Easy Blackened Cilantro Lime Green Beans
This side dish is one that my family eats all the time. It’s so easy to make with hardly any preparation at all as the stand mixer does all your “chopping.” These blackened green beans with a cilantro-lime dressing go great with any summertime meal like grilled meats or vegetables. My family craves this side dish year-round as these fresh flavors scratch that itch of nostalgia for warmer weather.
Feel free to use either fresh or frozen green beans for this recipe, but try to stay away from canned. If you’re using frozen green beans, defrost and pat dry before throwing them in the pan. This will allow you to get a nice char.
To get this recipe going, put a non-stick pan over high heat. Once your pan is hot, throw in the green beans and cook for two minutes. The trick here is to stir infrequently enough to get a nice char while also keeping the green beans from sticking. Once your beans have cooked for a few minutes, add some olive oil and season with salt. Continue to cook for around 15 minutes or until the beans have a nice char on them, then set aside.
While your green beans continue to cook, prepare the cilantro lime dressing. I’ve found that if I don’t roughly chop my cilantro before I add it to the stand mixer, it tends to coil around the blender blades and not mix well. So, wash and chop your cilantro and add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients. Pulse your blender until your dressing is smooth and set aside.
Toss the blackened green beans with the cilantro-lime dressing and serve family style. That’s it! You’re done! I hope you like these easy blackened cilantro-lime green beans and you get to enjoy them with all your summertime dishes!
